Who is your digital hero?

Justin Kan is an entrepreneur and investor. He has been the CEO of the law-tech company, Atrium, Founder of Twitch, an international gaming community, and CEO and Founder of exec, an on-demand errand company.

His most recent venture is as host of The Quest, where he brings to light the stories behind successful people and how they found happiness beyond it.

What have they done to win hero status in your eyes?

I admire that he has co-founded several companies, most notably Justin.tv/twitch, one of the first successful social streaming websites that pushed the entertainment industry forward. After improving the site to include a variety of “channels”, Justin.tv’s content was split where the gaming vertical became Twitch.

How has their heroism helped drive digital?

Justin has connected millions of gamers through online social gaming. Through Twitch, he’s created a huge international global gaming community that has pushed the boundaries on multiple entertainment mediums and has opened up new influencer opportunities.

What are the biggest challenges in digital we need another hero to solve?

We need a digital hero who can find ways to safely connect millions of people together to encourage the use of technology for future innovation and advancement without risking user privacy and data ownership.

What is your most heroic personal achievement so far in digital?

As a software engineer by trade, I’ve been proud to apply and explore technology shifts such as blockchain, web assembly, decentralized networks, and cryptography. Continually learning has been a foundation of my career, and getting to apply what I learn (big or small) has been my most impactful digital achievement.
